Aromatherapy is a gentler more soothing type of massage with the object of achieving deep relaxation, relief from stress and worry. Also helps with many other physical conditions, please see below for the details. We carry out assessment of needs first; you advise us what conditions you want to address at the session, then we mix you an essential oil blend that suits you uniquely. We use Lotus brand Essential Oils mixed in Almond Oil, (and sometimes Grapeseed oil), It can either be a one off session or a course of 6 sessions. We use the smoother Swedish techniques but can add some deeper Remedial techniques over problems areas if the need arises.

Aromatherapy is known to help ease a wide assortment of ailments; easing aches, pains, and injuries, reducing stress, relieving depression and anxiety, relaxing, uplifting, sedating or stimulating, restoring both physical and emotional wellbeing.

Some commonly used Aromatherapy oils include:

  • Ylang Ylang: antidepressant and aphrodisiac; useful to uplift the mood and unwind stress
  • Eucalyptus: for congestion/colds/aching muscles
  • Frankincense: for calming emotions and nightmares
  • Geranium: for menopausal problems & PMS
  • Cypress and Geranium: for toning and firming
  • Juniper and Marjoram: for poor circulation
  • Lavender: for relaxation and a multitude of other uses
  • Peppermint: for quick energy and relieving headache
  • Sandalwood: for relaxation, digestive troubles (esp. due to tension), dry skin
  • Tea Tree: a strong disinfectant, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal
More about Aromatherapy: When essential oils are applied to the skin, their small aromatic molecules are absorbed through skin into the bloodstream and then carried in the blood to different parts of the body. When essential oils are inhaled, the small molecules are transmitted via the olfactory system to the limbic area in the brain: the area that is connected to the hormonal and nervous systems as well as the emotions.
